Invitation and Membership Policy
Version:
Every member joins through a personal invitation and a human review. This is how KAA stays a place of people who are known to someone.
Invitation codes and links
Each invitation is personal and works once. It comes as a short code (8 characters, written like KOH-7XQ4-K2M9) and as a link, and both open the same invitation. An invitation a member creates expires 60 minutes after it is created; if it expires, the member can create a new one. Invitations from the KAA team do not expire until they are used or cancelled. Once you start signing up, the invitation is held for you for 24 hours.
We record who created each invitation and who used it. We store codes and links only in hashed form. Wrong codes are limited per network and per browser, and a wrong, expired or used code gets the same answer. Do not post invitations publicly or share them in group chats with people you do not know.
On an iPhone we may ask you to sign up in the KAA app rather than in the browser. The invitation page then shows where to get the app and the code to type into it.
How many
New members start with 3 invitations. We may add more to members in good standing or pause invitations for anyone whose invitees break the rules.
Crew links
A crew's link lets members join that crew. If you send it to someone who is not a member, they can ask to join KAA through it. That uses one of your invitations, under the same limits, and our team reviews the request like any other. If you have no invitation free, the link tells them so. You are responsible for who you send the link to, as with any invitation.
Review
After you sign up, a person on our team checks that your profile looks real, that you are 18 or older, and that your photo shows you. We aim to decide within one day. We may decline without giving a detailed reason, for example to protect other members, and you may ask us to look again once at support@kohvra.com.
Your inviter is your first friend
When your request is approved, you and the member whose invitation you used become friends at once, and we tell you both. This does not happen with an invitation from the KAA team, when either of you has blocked the other, or when your inviter's account is no longer active. Being friends never shares your location: you choose that separately. You can remove a friend at any time. We may also suggest to each other the members who joined through the same inviter, with that reason.
Your responsibility as an inviter
You are vouching that the person is who they say they are and will respect the community. You are not legally responsible for what they do, but repeated problems from people you invite affect your invitations.
Pending accounts
Until you are approved you cannot sign in, so you see no members, locations or villa parties. Applications still waiting for review after 30 days are deleted, and declined applications 90 days after the decision. We tell you by email when you are approved, and also if we decline. In the iPhone app you can also ask to be told on your phone.
Leaving
You can delete your account at any time. People you invited keep their accounts.
